About OCLF

The Oconee County Library Friends was formed in the 1970's for the following purposes:

  • To promote an appreciation for books and the enjoyment of reading;
  • To increase public awareness and use of the Oconee County Library;
  • To support the Library staff in providing high quality service and programs for Library patrons through fund-raising, volunteerism, advocating library services, and promoting literacy throughout the county, for the enhancement of the intellectual, recreational, and educational climate of Oconee County, Georgia.

2009 OCLF membership exceeded 200!!. The organization has donated many thousands of dollars to the Oconee Library, as well as organized and hosted many events which spotlight the wonderful literary resources of our area and the library in particular. Over the past years, OCLF has provided many books, services and pieces of equipment our public library now enjoys.  For 2009 we donated over $9,000. Library needs are greater than ever!! Consider joining the OCLF!
