Welcome to the web site for the Oconee County Library Friends. We are a group of volunteers and supporters that provide provide assistance, support and increased awareness of the many wonderful resources available from the Oconee County Public Library serving Watkinsville, Georgia and the surrounding communities.

In fulfilling our mission, we help raise money for special items and programs that are not covered in their annual budget. OCLF also works to promote community awareness of the materials, services and events available at their public library. Our non-profit organization offers programs to enrich the cultural life of our community, and strives to make the Oconee County Library a model of success.

In addition, OCLF also serves as an administrator of gifts, funds, and memorials which help provide continued financial support. If you've ever visited our local library, then you're already a friend. So, why not make it "official" by becoming a member of the Oconee County Library Friends.

Some of the goals for our organization are as follows:

  • Assist the library in fulfilling the library's Wish List and continue to provide financial assistance for "filling in the gaps" left by public funding
  • Continue the popular Thursday Night Live program series on a quarterly basis
  • Continue the annual Family Fun Day and getting the word out about this event so that more children and parents will be able to attend
  • Host an interesting and well-attended annual meeting each September
  • Investigate new publicity methods, including a new outside sign that can advertise programs and radio announcements
  • Create a long-range development plan for future programs and funding sources
  • Grow our active membership to at least 200 by the end of this year
